Simeon H. FINE, son of David and Catherine Krout Fine, was born near Alamo, Montgomery County, Indiana Oct 24, 1869. When a small boy the family moved to Jackson Twp, fountain Co where he grew to manhood and March 23, 1908 he was united in married to Miss Olive Long. After their marriage they began housekeeping in the Ingersoll church neighborhood continuing to live in that place until 16 years ago when they moved to Crawfordsville residing in that city until his passing away. He graduated from the common schools of Jackson Twp with the class of 1889 and prepared himself for teaching and for 23 years he taught in the schools of Fountain Co. His health failing he was obliged to give up that vocation, and later was obliged to give up other activities on account of his declining health. He was very sadly afflicted with rheumatism and for the past 13 years he was obliged to spent most of his time in a wheel chair. But during that period he employed his time in doing very fine fancy work to which many can attest who now have his work in their homes. Afflicted as he was and of a nature to make one despondent, yet he took a very optimistic view of life and got much pleasure out of his work, his reading and the association of his friends. 35 years ago under the pastorate of Rev. William Loucks, he united with the Ingersoll Chapel Christian church and latter while residing in Crawfordsville he placed his membership with the Crawfordsville Christian Church and continued a faithful member of the same to the end of life's journey. All during his invalid years his devoted wife has given him every attention which has been the admiration of all who have known them and their home life. He was seriously ill only for a few days during which time all was done that could be done to prolong his life yet it was not to be for near the midnight hour of Sunday, May 17th he passed peacefully away at the age of 61 years 6 months and 24 days, leaving a devoted wife, 3 brothers, JG and William of Waynetown; Alva of Hillsboro; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ira Boggs, Mrs. William Young and Miss Cordelia Fine of Veedersburg, many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing, but are consoled in knowing that he has gone into his heavenly home.
